As the Executive Director of the Greater Baybrook Alliance (GBA), Meredith Chaiken leads the organization in service of its mission – which is to act as a catalyst and conduit for equitable development and reinvestment, and to empower the residents of Baybrook community, one of the most underserved communities in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County. Meredith steers GBA by building partnerships and bringing in resources to fulfill its mission.
As a results-oriented strategist with a passion for community building and with deep experience in community engagement, market research, and project management, Meredith leverages insights into stakeholders’ needs, desires, and hopes to clarify community priorities and maximize engagement. Her recommendations are used to inform strategic planning, program development, and communications within the organization and among stakeholders.
Prior to joining the Greater Baybrook Alliance in 2017 Meredith lived in the fast-paced world of political polling, and served in a range of political organizing roles for the John Kerry for President campaign in the 2004 election cycle. She also served as a vice president of the Mellman Group, a DC-based Democratic public opinion research firm and in 2008, was named a “Rising Star” by Politics magazine for her innovative approach to strategic research.
Her three priorities at GBA are: a) to support and build local leadership, b) to revitalize the commercial corridor, and c) to create healthy and safe neighborhoods for all.
Meredith holds a B.S. with honors from Cornell University and an M.P.P. from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Meredith lives in Charles Village, Baltimore, with her husband, two children, a cat and a dog.
